About Me

Ken Aïcha Sy

Curator, cultural producer

Ken Aicha Sy was born in Dakar, in 1988, of a Franco-Martinican mother, a journalist and a Senegalese father, El Hadji Moussa Babacar SY, also known as ELSY, a "freedom of creation activist involved in the defence and promotion of Senegalese and African artists".

She grew up in Dakar and attended the Lycée Français Jean Mermoz. After obtaining her baccalaureate, she moved to Paris to pursue higher studies in Design, Art History and Space Planning. After her university studies, she returned to Senegal.

It is the period of the Fesman (World Festival of Black Arts). Sensitive to the creative environment and the cause of Senegalese artists, she decided to set up a cultural platform called Wakh'Art to participate in the enhancement of the Senegalese cultural offer. In 2012, she creates the place La Boite à Idée, to offer a meeting place for artists. After her meeting with the artist Moulaye, they decided to create the Senegalese music label Wakh'Art Music, to accompany in their development, artists of the Senegalese music scene. It struggles daily to bring positive change and improvement in the Senegalese cultural landscape.

Ken Aicha Sy wants to contribute positively to the development of his sector. He is someone who is rather direct, transparent, determined in what she undertakes. She works with passion and does things that positively impact her community. A free thinker, she remains respectful of other people's customs and cultures.

After ten years in culture, she has acquired a solid experience in communication and content creation. She proposes solutions adapted to the problems encountered.

She would like to pursue studies on the art market and find new partners to develop these activities. »
